Sunil Godhwani, Director of the Company and Chairman and Managing Director of Religare Enterprises Limited, is the driving force behind the group and its vision. Sunil, with his strong leadership skills, believes in leading from the front and has nurtured a culture that is entrepreneurial, result oriented, customer focused and based on teamwork. He has given strategic direction to Religare’s growth since his joining in 2001 and has been a key force in giving birth to Religare’s current shape and form. Prior to joining Religare, Sunil has had a diverse and wide-ranging experience of over two decades in managing large scale business ventures. He also serves as Director on the Boards of various group companies like SRL Limited, AEGON Religare Life Insurance Company Limited, Ligare Voyages Limited, Fortis Healthcare Limited and other subsidiaries/ Group companies of Religare.
Sunil is a prominent Industry spokesperson and is an active participant across various platforms such as the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). He has also been honored with many awards and accolades globally.
Born and raised in New Delhi, India, Sunil pursued his higher studies internationally. He received a B. Sc. Degree in Chemical Engineering and a M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering & Finance from Polytechnic Institute of New York.

As the Group Chief Executive Officer of Religare Enterprises Limited, Shachindra leads the entire integrated financial services business of the Religare Group. Religare’s financial services bouquet spans across Non-Banking Finance, Retail Broking, Life Insurance, Health Insurance, Mutual Fund, Global Capital Markets, Investment Banking and Global Asset Management.
As one of the key founding team members at Religare, Shachindra has been a core pillar of Religare’s successful growth journey in the last 14 years. He joined Religare in the year 2000.
Under his leadership, Religare has grown from a mono line broking led business to a diversified financial services major. Some of his marquee achievements include successfully leading the IPO process for Religare in 2007, considered to be one of the most successful IPO’s in India, establishing new businesses and stitching together successful joint ventures and partnerships for the Group and raising funds through multiple private equity transactions.
Under Shachindra’s guidance, Religare has transitioned into a performance orientated, bottom line focused organization and has successfully evolved from an investment phase company to a growth oriented company, ready to capture growth opportunities on a self-sustaining basis.
Shachindra is a qualified lawyer and is a University Rank holder from the Benares Hindu University. A great motivator and leader, when not at work he loves to read, contribute to columns, travel and spend time with his family.

Mr. Anil Saxena, Director of the Company and Group Chief Finance Officer of Religare Enterprises Limited, plays a crucial role in supervising the operations of Group Treasury, Finance, Accounts and Risk function for the organization. He played a key role in the organization's journey integrating various acquisitions done during the course of its business. He has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry and is with Religare since the past 10 years.
After 25 years in the British Diplomatic Service (which took him to New Delhi twice, latterly as British Deputy High Commissioner - 2002-2006 - to Paris and to the UK Mission to the UN in New York), Mark now lives and works in India in the corporate and civil society sectors.
Mark is deeply involved in the skills and education sectors, aiming to help India use global experience to tackle its unique requirements in these fields. As Non-Executive Chair of A4e (India), a subsidiary of the UK’s largest trainer of the long-term unemployed, he is leading initiatives with Government and the private sector in the skills field. Mark is also a promoter and partner of The Hearth, a recently-established and innovative education/skills-focused consultancy. In addition he acts as adviser to Liqvid, a global eLearning service provider, with a strong focus on English language teaching.
Mark is the India Adviser to the Confederation of British Industry and runs the British Business Group in Delhi. He is also a promoter and Director of Sheffield Haworth (India), a JV in executive search with a major UK firm in this field. In the communications field, Mark is on the Advisory Board of Avian Media, one of India’s fastest growing PR/Public Affairs firms, as well as Public Affairs Asia.

In the civil society sector, Mark is an Independent Director of the Business and Community Foundation, India’s leading CSR advocacy group with a particular focus on CSR training for corporates. He is a member of the Research Advisory board of the Asia Energy Institute, based at The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI) where Mark used to be a Senior Visiting Fellow. He is on the Advisory Board of The Third Pole, the Panel of Judges for the Sujana Excellence Awards, the Board of the Delhi Area Benevolent Fund and is a Trustee of the Lords and Commoners Cricket Scholarship Fund. Mark also sits on the India Board of the British Foreign Ministry’s Prosperity Fund.
Mr. Ravi Mehrotra has over 25 years of experience in the Financial services domain both in India and internationally. Prior to joining Religare, Mr. Mehrotra was associated with PineBridge Investments (erstwhile AIG) where he was the Global Head of Retail & Intermediary Channels. His career span also includes assignments in India as the President of Franklin Templeton Asset Management, CIO of Kothari Pioneer, Executive Vice President & Co-founder of Prime Securities and Vice President of Bank of America in their Investment Banking & Treasury Group.
Anil Panwar, a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, started his professional career in the Industry with DCM Ltd. way back in 1976 and later on moved to Britannia Industries. Thereafter, he had a long stint of about 20 years in Escorts Group at various positions and was involved in almost every facet in finance – right from operational finance to corporate finance, treasury, strategy, financial planning and so on. He has to his credit several joint venture and divestment deals that clearly reflected his sound business acumen, astute foresight and the ability to think beyond the obvious. Besides, doing the restructuring of Escorts Group, he successfully managed the public issue and right issues of Escorts Group.
Mr. Panwar joined Fortis Group in year 2002 as Director-Group Finance. In his tenure at Fortis, he has taken the Group to new heights of growth, financial achievement and recognition through his creativity, passion, innovative approach and leadership skills and has come to known as restructuring and M&A specialist. He concluded the biggest M&A deal in the Healthcare delivery in India, i.e., Escorts Hospital Group which has made Fortis the largest player in the Healthcare delivery in North India and second largest player in pan India, besides making the Fortis- Escorts combination the world’s largest Cardiac care facility. As a senior member of the management team, Mr. Panwar has stepped far beyond a role of traditional finance person to help Fortis design a long term strategic growth plan. He has played a very crucial role in setting a tone of trust, integrity, and commitment to ethical business conduct within the culture of the Group. As an ethical watchdog within the Group, he has been responsible for creating concrete measures to maintain and protect a transparent, well- balanced system of corporate governance that goes beyond just compliance.
Padam Bahl has been practicing as a Chartered Accountant and an Income Tax Advisor since 1979 and has more than 27 years of work experience. He was the Chairman of the Northern India Regional Council, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Amritsar Branch for the year 1998-99. He was also a member of the Income Tax Advisory Committee, Amritsar Chapter during the years 2002-03 and 2003-04. Mr. Bahl holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from the Kurukshetra University and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. He is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He has also received a Diploma in Information System Audit from SSI, Amritsar

Dr. Brian Tempest advises Companies, Banks, Investment Funds, Private Equity & High Net Worth Individuals on their Strategy in Asia based on his wide experience in China, Japan, South East Asia and India where he has lived for the last decade.
Brian started working for Ranbaxy Laboratories in 1995 and he held the positions of Regional Director, President, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer until 2005 when Ranbaxy became the 9th largest Global Generic Pharmaceutical Company. He then became Chief Mentor, Vice Chairman and Non Executive Director until 2008 when he retired. He is one of the few Westerners to have led a Sensex Nifty 50 Indian blue chip MNC and as a result has a valuable insight into India. Brian has also worked for Glaxo as Regional Director-Far East and Regional Director-Middle East & Africa from 1985 to 1992.
He has worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry for the last 42 years and has managed Healthcare Businesses in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Australasia, China, Japan and India and has led many sessions at Investor Meetings held around the world from Tokyo to Las Vegas.

Brian received a PhD in Chemistry from Lancaster University in 1971 and in 2009 he became Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Lancaster University Management School. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine. He is now Chairman and Senior Partner at Hale & Tempest Co Ltd in the UK.
